Unfortunately through our work, we have found that there is no hard and fast way to gauge an event’s severity simply by the type of event that it is. In actually, the severity will drive the level of response activation as well as the amount of business continuity that must take place.
The following graph illustrates the need for Public Health staff deployment based on the severity of an emergency event. There is a clear depiction of the need to sustain day to day business during a surge event.
